在这个物欲横流的社会，海誓山盟的夫妻关系已变得脆弱不堪，当爱情走到尽头，一切莫非只能用金钱衡量？东京街头一隅，经营着一家不甚起眼的律师事务所。当家律师袴田幸男（田中直树 饰）独辟蹊径，只受理婚姻诉讼中抚慰金索赔的案件，虽然有自由调查员梅本胡桃（渡边直美 饰）、兼职大学生筱冢里奈（岩崎名美 饰）以及房东远山芳江（美保纯 饰）帮衬，但经营还是不甚理想。曾经的家庭主妇野野村香苗（矢田亚希子 饰），通过袴田律师的相助摆脱了失败的婚姻，并得到应有的赔偿。她自愿留在事务所打工，一方面从律师身上取材创作漫画。 在此期间，浮华时代芸芸众生相接连呈现，所谓爱情不过笑谈而已……。The story begins in today Istanbul, when a woman called Işık (Bade İşçil) arrives at an old house.
